Planning your retirement
One thing that we all need to do is to plan ahead. There are some big questions to answer.
- What do you want to do during your retirement?
- How much money will you need to achieve that?
- How are you going to ensure your money is going to last?
Working out the answers to these questions will help you achieve the retirement you desire.
Probably the biggest question is 'When will you retire?'
This can depend on a range of factors.
Lifestyle:
- Are you ready to stop working altogether?
- Would you like to work part-time for a few years?
- Is your partner still working?
- What interests do you want to pursue beyond work?
- Do you have any health issues?
Financial:
- Will your current finances last the rest of your life?
- When can you access your super?
- What investments do you have inside super?
- What investments do you have outside super?
- Do you have debts that need to be paid off?
It's never too early to start planning for your retirement. Considering these questions before you retire can help enable you to make wise financial decisions for your future.
