The risk that if you cancel your CarePlus, you will receive less money than you invested and the withdrawal value of the Insurance may be less than the premium paid.

The risk that a change in Government policies and laws in the future may require us to make changes to the product or its terms and conditions or can impact your personal circumstances.

The risk that the real value of your regular payments and your death benefit may reduce over time as a result of inflation.

The risk that we become unable to meet our commitments to you. However, we are subject to detailed legislative and regulatory requirements designed to ensure that this does not occur. Challenger is regulated under the Australian Life Act and the prudential standards made under it, which prescribe minimum capital and solvency requirements for Challenger as well as for the annuity business it writes. APRA actively supervises Challenger’s compliance with these requirements, which are designed to ensure that we are able to meet our obligations to investors. For example, Challenger is required to hold at least enough capital to withstand a one in 200-year investment market shock event. APRA can require us at any time to change how we invest or tell us to invest more capital into the fund.

Helping with the costs of aged care

Challenger CarePlus provides a fixed monthly payment to help with the ongoing costs of aged care. It’s for people who are receiving or planning to receive government subsidised aged care services.

The monthly payments continue for the lifetime of the investor. Upon their death the original amount invested is paid to the nominated beneficiary or estate.¹

¹ If the policy owner is a resident of South Australia at the time of investment, the death benefit will equal 100% of the amount invested less the amount of state stamp duty paid by Challenger on their behalf. 100% of the lump sum invested is returned to the beneficiary or the estate on the death of the person in care.
