We’re thrilled to partner with the Sydney Film Festival – now in its 71st year - which runs from 5 – 16 June 2024. This Festival is one of the longest running events of its kind in the world and showcases the best in cinema from Australia and around the world, presenting over 200 films not typically found in mainstream theatres, with many premieres. It takes place at the iconic State Theatre and twelve other cinemas in the CBD, Newtown, Cremorne and Randwick, over twelve days allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the magic of cinema.

“We are excited to be a major partner of the esteemed Sydney Film Festival. Arts and culture, particularly through the medium of film is a beloved form of entertainment especially for our customers who are preparing for and enjoying their well-deserved retirement.”

Nick Hamilton, Challenger Managing Director and CEO.

Highlights from the Hub presented by Challenger

In our debut year, Challenger proudly took centre stage as the presenting partner of the Festival Hub this year. Located at Lower Town Hall, this vibrant hub hosted special events like filmmaker chats with legends George Miller and Philip Noyce, the annual Sydney Film Festival Trivia Night, and the fabulous queer cinema celebration ‘Drag Me to the Movies’.
